Fluid tips ---please
I did so much better with fluids when I had warm fluids---they just felt better...about 3 or 4 weeks out that uncomfortable feeling left when drinking..about the same time I started on soft or regular foods...still can't drink super fast...but I can get my fluids in a lot easier. Hydration is sooo important...I was hospitalized a million times the first surgery I had because I didn't hydrate enough. My favorite is hot chai latte (I use calorie countdown milk and s/f decaf mix)...Yummy- it gets in about 14 grams of protein too. My Dr told me fluids are more important then getting a certain amount of protein. Keep your chin up!
I still do better with warm than cold. I drink lots of herb teas, new favoite is honey vanilla camomile. Yum. Protein hot chocolate is great too. Unjury makes a chicken broth protein that is good. Try different amounts of water or milk in them. Some are better with a little, some with a lot of fluid. We were told to get 1 oz sipped every 15 min. That is your "job" early out. You don't want to get back in the hospital for dehydration.

I made homemade chicken broth, strained it, and drank that warmed. ALOT of it.
The first 2 or 3 days I didn't drink much more than 12 oz for the entire day, so you're doing better than I did. I set a shot glass full of water (1 oz) on the counter. Once an hour I walked for 5-10 minutes around the middle of my house, whi*****luded laps through the kitchen. Each kitchen lap I took a sip from the shot glass.
By day 4 I changed to an Irish shot glass (2 oz), and I could almost finish that 2 oz in about 10 minutes. LIke Abby said, small sips. By day 5, I could sip more constantly and it didn't seem so overwhelming to sit and sip, sip, sip.
I also set a timer for various times to remember to sip. Even now I do that at work.
